Medicine Hat shooting suspect arrested with second man still at large

Officers provided emergency medical care before the victim was taken to hospital in Medicine Hat and later airlifted to Calgary with life-threatening injuries.

Police have said the victim survived and continues to recover.

Bourassa faces charges including aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent to wound, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and two counts of failing to comply with a firearms prohibition order.

The second accused, 26-year-old Levi Chudyk of Calgary, remains at large.

Chudyk is wanted on charges including aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent to wound, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, pointing a firearm, obstructing a peace officer and three counts of failing to comply with a firearms prohibition order.

Medicine Hat police are asking anyone with information about Chudyk’s whereabouts to contact the service or their local police agency. Investigators are advising the public not to approach him if he is seen.

Police thanked the Calgary Police Service for its assistance in locating and arresting Bourassa.

The investigation remains ongoing.
