The first weekend of October has arrived, and the weather is expected to be favourable for being outside for most of the weekend.

Friday will see a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of rain overnight. Wind gusts will reach up to 40 km/h. The daytime high is 21 C. Cloudiness will increase early in the evening, with a low of 5 C.

On Saturday, the sky will clear in the morning with a high of 18. The evening will remain clear with a low of 4 C.

Sunday will be the warmest with a sunny sky and a high of 24 C. The evening is expected to be clear with a low of 12 C.

🧒 Roving Gyms at Big Marble Go Centre

FRIDAY

Families with little ones can enjoy an evening of active indoor play at Roving Gyms on Friday at the Big Marble Go Centre.

From 4–8 p.m., children 6 and under can explore a variety of play stations, interact with other children, play games, and enjoy fun toys and equipment in a safe and welcoming environment.

Program staff will provide loosely structured facilitation while allowing children plenty of freedom to explore and play at their own pace.

This family program is FREE, making it a great opportunity for parents and caregivers to bring their little ones out for an evening of fun and activity.

Spots are limited; registration is available through the City website.

📽🎙 Movies and Comedy at the Monarch Theatre

FRIDAY, SATURDAY and SUNDAY

The historic Monarch Theatre will have two movies and a comedy performance this weekend.

On Friday, the 2004 teen comedy Mean Girls, starring Lindsay Lohan, plays at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Then Saturday, Broadly Speaking Comedy takes over the stage with comedians Charlie Wilson and Deb Balmer. It will include prizes from Medicine Hat businesses. The show starts at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are available through tixx.ca.

The Sunday matinee is the 1984 film Ghostbusters. That begins at 3 p.m. Doors open at 2 p.m.

Admission for both movies is $5 cash each, with a cash concession set at two items for $5.

🏒 Medicine Hat Dynamic Industrial Cubs

FRIDAY

The newly named Medicine Hat Dynamic Industrial Cubs host the Rocky Rams on Friday.

Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m. at the Kinplex 1 Arena.

Heading into the game, the Cubs have a win and a loss, while the Rams are 0-2.

🏒 South Alberta Hockey Academy

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, and SUNDAY

The South Alberta Hockey Academy U17 Prep team hosts NAX at the Big Marble Go Centre for two games this weekend.

Friday at 7:45 p.m. and Saturday at 2:15 p.m.

The U18 Prep team starts their regular season at home this weekend with two games against Prairie Hockey Academy at the Big Marble Go Centre.

Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 10:15 a.m.

🧑‍🌾 Last Farmers’ Market of the Season at Cypress Centre

SATURDAY

The Cypress Centre Auditorium will host the final Farmers’ Market of the 2026 season on Saturday.

A large variety of products will be available from local vendors.

It will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

🪙 Antiques and Collectibles / Gun and Hobby Shows and Sales

SATURDAY and SUNDAY

Medicine Hat’s 22nd annual Antiques and Collectibles Show and Sale, and the 17th annual Gun and Hobby Show are at the Cypress Centre Field House this weekend.

They run Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Over 300 tables and booths will be set up with vendors from across Western Canada.

The antique and collectible side will include furniture, glassware, coins, tools, jewelry, sports cards, and more.

The gun and hobby side will include modern and collectible rifles, shotguns, knives, optics, reloading and ammunition, and more.

Admission is $6, with children 12 and under free.

🎃 Take Down at the Patch

SATURDAY

The 2nd Annual Take Down at the Patch happens on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with proceeds supporting the Medicine Hat Wrestling Club.

Head out to the pumpkin patch to wander through the field and pick out the perfect pumpkins.

Fresh baking will be for sale, and plenty of members and coaches from the wrestling club will be on hand to chat about wrestling, answer questions, and even help carry your pumpkins to the car.

The event is cash only.

The patch is located west of Redcliff.

  • Head west of Highway 1.
  • Turn left onto Highway 524 toward Hays.
  • Turn left onto Range Road 75.
  • Turn right onto Township Road 130, a dirt road across a cattle gate.
  • Keep an eye out for the pumpkin patch!

📚 Medicine Hat Public Library

SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Public Library programs on Saturday offer something for both teens and families.

From 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., teens ages 13–19 can join Teen D&D: Intermediate One-Shot. Designed for players who have played Dungeons & Dragons before, this program gives participants the chance to work together as a party and complete an adventure in one sitting. Premade characters and dice will be provided. The program is offered in partnership with Pop Up Parks.

Later that afternoon, from 2–4 p.m., families can get creative with Scratch Art. Participants will learn how to create artwork by scratching through a dark top layer of paper to reveal the colourful layer underneath. Try out this fun “reverse drawing” technique using a template or two.

The South East Tigers U13 AAA hockey team host the Red Deer Chiefs for a regular-season game on Saturday at 11:15 a.m. at the Hockey Hounds Rec Centre.

🫐 Medicine Hat Interpretive Program

SATURDAY and SUNDAY

The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program has several upcoming activities at the Nature Centre in Police Point Park.

On Saturday, the program will host “Berries on the Prairies,” a free, all-ages nature walk from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Participants will learn how to identify wild berries and other fruits, including which plants are edible. Registration is not required.

The annual birdseed fundraiser ends on Sunday, with proceeds supporting the Interpretive Program’s nature programming. Birdseed can be ordered online, by phone or at the Nature Centre.

Then on Sunday, the program will host a Cultural Storytelling Bonfire. The free evening event will feature refreshments, nature stories and legends from community members.

Registration is required by calling 403-529-6225, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

🐍 Medicine Hat College Rattlers

SATURDAY and SUNDAY

Medicine Hat College Rattlers Athletics has a few events taking place this weekend.

On Saturday, the men’s and women’s basketball teams host St. Boniface at the Snake Pit. The women start at 5 p.m. and the men at 7 p.m.

On Sunday, the soccer teams both host Ambrose University. The women play at 2 p.m. and the men at 4:15 p.m. on the College Soccer Field.

The women’s volleyball team hosts an intersquad game in the Snake Pit at 6 p.m.

On the road, the women’s hockey team begins their season at NAIT on Friday and Saturday, and the cross country team competes at a Grand Prix in Red Deer on Saturday.

🏚 Haunted Medicine Hat Trolley Tour

SATURDAY and SUNDAY

The Haunted Medicine Hat Trolley Tour returns Saturday and Saturday night, offering residents and visitors a different look at the city after dark.

Led by medium and numerologist Tamara Miller, the tour explores local ghost stories, haunted landmarks, forgotten history, and legends passed down through generations.

Organizers say the experience blends Medicine Hat’s history with the unexplained, highlighting the people, places and events that helped shape the community.

Miller may also share spiritual impressions or unusual experiences that arise during the tour.

Organizers say no two tours are exactly alike.

The tour runs Saturday at 6:30 p.m.; the Sunday tour at 8 p.m. is sold out.

It invites participants to climb aboard for an evening of history, mystery and local stories.

Tickets are available online through Eventbrite.

The Medicine Hat Tigers play one game this weekend at Co-op Place against the Prince Albert Raiders on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Will Bryant and Lance Doll will have the radio broadcast on Wild 94.5 starting with the pre-game at 6:30 p.m.
