🧒 Kids Night Out at the Big Marble Go Centre

FRIDAY

Kids Night Out is Friday at the Big Marble Go Centre.

The program runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. for children ages five to eight.

Kids can enjoy an evening of supervised activities, including crafts, gymnasium games, Nerf Wars and more.

The program gives children a chance to play, socialize and try different activities, while parents get some time to themselves.

Bookings are available online through the City of Medicine Hat.

🏈 High School Football

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

Two high school football games take place at the Methanex Bowl on Friday and another on Saturday.

The undefeated Crescent Heights Vikings host the Cardston Cougars for an exhibition contest at 5 p.m.

Following, the Medicine Hat High School Hawks host the Catholic Central Cougars at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the Monsignor McCoy Colts host the Cold Lake Royals at 7 p.m.

General Admission is $5 at the gate.

🏒 Medicine Hat Cubs

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Cubs kick off the regular season this weekend with two home games.

The Cubs host the High River Flyers on Friday and the Mountain View Colts on Saturday.

Friday will include a tailgate before the game starting at 6 p.m., and a banner-raising ceremony for the 2025-26 Heritage Junior Hockey League winners.

Both games are at 7:30 p.m. at the Kinplex 1 Arena.

📓 Medicine Hat Interpretive Program

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, and SUNDAY

The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program is offering several opportunities to connect with nature and learn something new this weekend.

The final session of the Nature Journaling mini-series takes place on Friday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nature Centre.

Participants will use a more naturalist and scientific approach to journaling, with supplies including journals, watercolour materials, glue, cutouts and tape provided.

The program costs $10, and registration is required by calling 403-529-6225.

On Saturday, families can take part in Tardigrade Escapade at Police Point Park from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The free program explores tardigrades, also known as moss piglets or water bears—microscopic creatures known for surviving some of the planet’s most extreme environments.

Participants may even get a chance to view tardigrades under a microscope.

Registration is not required.

Families can still take part in the Summer StoryWalk at Police Point Park, running through Sunday.

The StoryWalk features Finding Wild by Megan Wagner Lloyd, with illustrations by Abigail Halpin.

Children who complete the walk can take a token to the Medicine Hat Public Library and exchange it for a prize.

🎮 Medicine Hat Public Library

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Public Library is hosting two events for local teens this weekend.

Friday, teens ages 13 to 19 are invited to take part in Crafts and Controllers, running from 6:45 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The after-hours event will feature video games, crafts and karaoke. Participants can try out the new Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox, along with classic crafts including button making and Perler beads.

There will be an opportunity to sing karaoke in the library theatre, with snacks and pop provided.

Doors open between 6:45 p.m. and 7:15 p.m., after which they will be locked for safety. The event wraps up at 9 p.m.

Then on Saturday morning, the library will host a Neurodivergent Teen Meet-Up from 11 a.m. to noon for youth ages 13 to 17.

The gathering is designed as a welcoming space for neurodivergent teens, including those who are autistic or have ADHD, to connect, have fun and build friendships.

The meet-up will be supported by members of the Medicine Hat Autism Society.

The Brooks Bandits host two games at the Centennial Regional Arena this weekend.

On Friday, they face the Spruce Grove Saints, and Sunday they host the Sherwood Park Crusaders.

Puck drop is at 7 p.m. for both.

🐍 Medicine Hat College Rattlers

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY

Medicine Hat College Rattlers Athletics has a few events taking place this weekend.

The women’s hockey team will face off against the South Alberta Hockey Academy U18 Prep women’s team for three exhibition games.

Games are Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 6:15 p.m., and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Moose Rec Centre.

Soccer action on Saturday at the College field includes the Rattlers hosting the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks. The women play at noon and the men at 2:15 p.m.

🏒 South Alberta Hockey Academy

The South Alberta Hockey Academy U17 Prep team hosts Prairie Hockey Academy at the Big Marble Go Centre for two games this weekend.

Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 10:15 a.m.

The U18 Prep women’s team faces off against the Medicine Hat College Rattlers women for three games.

🎸 Queen: It’s a Kinda Magic

Medicine Hat is getting a night of classic rock this Friday as Queen: It’s a Kinda Magic takes the stage at the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre.

The Australian tribute show features Warren Vernon-Driscoll as Freddie Mercury, performing Queen hits including Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

🏛 Public reception for new solo exhibit at the Esplanade

The Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre is hosting a public reception on Friday celebrating the opening of Mostly Harmless, a new solo exhibition by internationally exhibiting artist Robyn Moody.

Opening remarks are scheduled for approximately 7:30 p.m.

The exhibition features a 3,000-square-foot immersive installation made up of handmade machines working alongside instruments to create constantly changing expressions of sound and light.

Gears, pails, electric keyboards, water and radios are among the components used in Moody’s unusual mechanical devices.

The Esplanade says the work explores themes including patterns and chaos, madness and angst, as well as beauty and fragility.

The title Mostly Harmless is inspired by Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

It reflects Moody’s personal concerns about the state of civilization and the complex realities of the world around us.

Sound plays a major role in the installation, with mechanical devices generating unpredictable compositions in which patterns emerge and disappear.

The exhibition invites visitors to slow down, listen and experience the work with an open mind.

📽 Movies at the Monarch Theatre

A variety of movies will play at the historic Monarch Theatre this weekend.

On Friday, as part of Dolly Day, the Dolly Parton classic 9 to 5 plays at 7:30 p.m. The 1980’s comedy also features Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.

Then Saturday, the 2004 comedy Napoleon Dynamite, featuring Jon Heder, is on the big screen.

The Sunday matinee is the 2000 Disney animated film, The Emperor’s New Groove. That will begin at 3 p.m.

Doors open an hour before each movie starts, and admission is always $5 cash, with a cash concession set at two items for $5.

🎸 Down Right Fest

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, and SUNDAY

A roaming music festival takes over downtown Medicine Hat this weekend.

Down Right Fest runs September 25th through 27th, with multiple venues hosting live music, events and activities throughout the weekend.

The festival kicks off Friday at 8 p.m. at Travois with Tackleberry, the latest project from Ryan Massini, featuring a 90s electronic-inspired sound.

Saturday gets underway at 1 p.m. with Oktoberfest in the Street, hosted by Travois and The Yard. The event will feature bratwurst, pretzels, beer cheese, steins and a variety of games and competitions, including keg rolling and bowling, yodelling, accordion competitions and stein holding.

Then, starting at 5 p.m., Down Right Fest takes over venues across downtown, with live performances from artists including Starpainter, Seth Anderson, Cope, Carter Felker, Sparkle Blood, Bailey Kate, Derek Hintz Trio and Christie K.

The weekend wraps up Sunday at The Yard with the Grande Finale, featuring Dave Hause and Greg Attonito starting at 7 p.m.

Full festival passes are $50 plus fees, with Saturday-only and Sunday-only passes available for $30 plus fees.

Organizers remind festival-goers that venue capacity is limited, so anyone hoping to catch a specific artist is encouraged to arrive early.

🏚 Haunted Medicine Hat Trolley Tour

The Haunted Medicine Hat Trolley Tour returns Friday and Saturday night, offering residents and visitors a different look at the city after dark.

Led by medium and numerologist Tamara Miller, the tour explores local ghost stories, haunted landmarks, forgotten history, and legends passed down through generations.

Organizers say the experience blends Medicine Hat’s history with the unexplained, highlighting the people, places and events that helped shape the community.

Miller may also share spiritual impressions or unusual experiences that arise during the tour.

Organizers say no two tours are exactly alike.

The tour runs Friday at 8:30 p.m. and Saturday at 8 p.m., inviting participants to climb aboard for an evening of history, mystery and local stories.

🚶 Historic Railroad Walking Tour

SATURDAY

The Historic Railroad Walking Tour takes place on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Residents and visitors can explore the neighbourhood that grew alongside the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway during a guided walking tour highlighting Medicine Hat’s historic North Railway Street.

The approximately one-hour tour begins at Towne Square. It features historic landmarks, architectural details, ghost signs and stories about the diverse communities that helped shape the city as the railway expanded.

The tour concludes at Hometown Culinary, formerly the OK Coffee Shop, where participants can purchase an iced coffee for the original 1947 price of 25 cents.

Organizers recommend bringing a quarter for the coffee, dressing for the weather and booking in advance, as space is limited.

🧑‍🍳 Redcliff Fall Festival and Chili Cook-off

SATURDAY

The Redcliff Fall Festival and Chili Cook-Off returns Saturday with an afternoon of food, entertainment and family-friendly activities.

The festival runs from noon to 4 p.m., with chili being served until 2:30.

This year’s event features the second annual Chili Cook-Off, with bowls available for $5. A collectible bowl made by the Medicine Hat Potters Association, using clay from Plainsman Clay, is included with a $10 purchase.

Families can also take part in free carnival games, a turkey shoot and cornhole, along with a free petting zoo and pumpkin carving, while supplies last.

Live musical entertainment will be provided by Rob Hudec.

The Something for Everyone Market will also feature local vendors, while carnival treats will be available for purchase from Flamingo Fuel Stop, Kona Ice, The Donut Commander, How Do You Roll Ice Cream and Pale Raven Cafe.

Organizers invite the community to come out, enjoy some chili and celebrate the arrival of fall in Redcliff.

🐯 Medicine Hat Tigers on Wild 94.5

SATURDAY and SUNDAY

The Medicine Hat Tigers are on the road this weekend.

On Saturday, they face the Rebels in Red Deer.

Then on Sunday they head further north to play the Oil Kings in Edmonton.

The Tigers are 2-0 to start the season with a pair of wins over the Lethbridge Hurricanes last weekend.

The games are scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Will Bryant will have both radio broadcasts on Wild 94.5 starting 15 minutes before puck drop.

The Tigers play again at Co-op Place on Saturday, Oct. 3, when they host the Prince Albert Raiders.

🎙 Jimmy Carr: Laughs Funny

Comedy star Jimmy Carr is bringing his latest stand-up show to Medicine Hat this weekend.

Carr will perform “Laughs Funny” Saturday night at Co-op Place, as part of his biggest Canadian tour yet.

The tour includes 31 cities across the country, marking Carr’s first performance in Medicine Hat.

Known for his quick wit, dark one-liners and distinctive laugh, Carr has performed in more than 40 countries and sold millions of tickets worldwide.

The show starts at 8 p.m. Saturday at Co-op Place.

🎤 Price is Right Live – On Stage

SUNDAY

Fans of the iconic game show The Price Is Right will have a chance to take part in the action when Price Is Right Live comes to Medicine Hat this weekend.

The interactive, non-televised stage production is set for Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre.

Audience members could be selected to “Come on Down” and compete in games inspired by the television classic, including Plinko, Cliffhangers and The Big Wheel, with prizes up for grabs.

Contestants could win everything from electronics and appliances to vacations and even a brand-new car.

People can register in advance or at the venue on Sunday.

Contestants must be at least 18 years old, although there’s no age restriction for those attending the show.

The performance features two acts with a 15-minute intermission.

VIP packages are also available, including options for a meet-and-greet or a chance to spin The Big Wheel after the show.

And one important note for fans — Drew Carey is not hosting the Medicine Hat performance.
