The security systems at the shop had alerted the general manager to the fire and authorities were contacted immediately after the fire started in an area of the shop where they board doors.

Hiebert said inspectors have told him that they believe the fire may have been started by an electric battery charger.

“I said, you know what, If I can see a glow in the sky when I go over some of the hills, you know, 10 kilometers out of Bow Island, if I could see a glow in the sky, my cabinet shop was gone,” Hiebert said.

“When I rolled up, when I come over those hills, I could see the glow above Bow Island, and I knew that I no longer had a cabinet shop.”

Hiebert is thankful that there were no employees onsite when the fire took place.

The only thing that was able to be salvage from the fire was some samples.
