🧒 Kids Night Out

FRIDAY

The Big Marble Go Centre is hosting Kids Night Out on Friday, offering children ages five to eight an evening of games and activities.

The program runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and includes crafts, gymnasium games, Nerf Wars and other activities.

Organizers describe the event as an opportunity for children to have an evening of fun while parents get some time to themselves.

Tickets are available online through the City’s website.

🐍 Medicine Hat College Rattlers

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

It’s a busy weekend for Rattlers Athletics at Medicine Hat College.

The cross-country team hosts its first home meet in four years Saturday, with the women racing at 10:30 a.m. and the men at 11:30 a.m.

Rattlers soccer hosts the SAIT Trojans, with the women playing at 2:15 p.m. and the men at 4:30 p.m.

The basketball teams also take on the Briercrest College Clippers in exhibition games, with the women at 1 p.m. and the men at 3 p.m.

The weekend begins Friday, with the men’s volleyball team holding a public intrasquad game at 5:30 p.m.

🏈 High School Football

FRIDAY

A high school football game between the Medicine Hat High Hawks and the Crescent Heights Vikings takes place at the Methanex Bowl on Friday night.

Kickoff is at 6 p.m.

🍽 Dinner in the Garden

FRIDAY

The Root Cellar Food and Wellness Hub is hosting a special garden dinner Friday featuring food, entertainment and an evening focused on the organization’s work in the community.

The event includes an evening meal and entertainment, along with a look at the Root Cellar’s impact and plans for its next chapter.

Tickets are $125.

It runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Maple Avenue location.

The dinner is one of several that have taken place with tickets still available online for the final event planned for next Saturday, Sept. 19.

🐯 Medicine Hat Tigers

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Tigers wrap up their exhibition schedule this weekend.

First, they host the Swift Current Broncos at Co-op Place Friday at 7 p.m.

Then, on Saturday, they travel to Southwest Saskatchewan.

The community of Shaunavon will host the Tigers and Broncos for a game at 5 p.m. at the Wickenheiser Centre.

That will conclude the Tigers’ preseason schedule.

The regular season begins Sept. 18 in Lethbridge against the Hurricanes.

It’s a full schedule of 90’s movies at the Monarch Theatre this weekend.

On Friday, the 1995 film Clueless featuring Alicia Silverstone will be on the big screen at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the 1995 film Jumanji is showing featuring Robin Williams underway at 7:30 p.m.

The Sunday Matinee is 1996 sports comedy Space Jam featuring Bugs Bunny and Michael Jordan, starting at 3 p.m.

Door open for each movie an hour prior, and admission is $5 cash, with a cash concession of two items for $5.

📽 Co-op Kids Club Outdoor Movie

FRIDAY

The 2nd Annual Co-op Kids Outdoor Movie takes place Friday night in the parking lot of the 13th Avenue grocery store.

Families are invited to bring their lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy a free showing of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, starting at dusk, approximately 8 p.m.

Parking will be available in the back lot, and the grocery store will remain open so you can grab your movie snacks.

The event is free for Co-op Kids Club members and their families.

🏍 Santa Claus Fund Toy Run

SATURDAY

The 40th annual Santa Claus Fund Toy Run is Saturday.

The event bringing bikers together for a ride supporting local families.

A pancake breakfast begins at 9 a.m. at the Irvine Hotel, with the ride leaving at 11:30 a.m.

Participants are asked to bring a minimum $5 donation per bike or an unwrapped toy.

All bikes are welcome.

Traffic restrictions are in place on Medicine Hat’s Dunmore Road around noon as the riders make their way to the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede Grounds.

🚶 Historic First Street Southeast Walking Tour

The Historic First Street Southeast Walking Tour takes place on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Residents and visitors can explore one of Medicine Hat’s oldest neighbourhoods on a guided walking tour highlighting the city’s early history.

The approximately one-hour tour takes participants along the tree-lined First Street S.E., formerly known as the Esplanade, where guides share stories about the area’s earliest settlers, historic homes and distinctive architecture.

Organizers say each tour offers a unique look at the people and buildings that helped shape Medicine Hat while giving participants a deeper connection to the city’s past.

The tour departs from the Esplanade at 401 First St. S.E. and includes a complimentary walking tour guide.

Participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather and wear suitable footwear, as portions of the route include uneven walking surfaces.

🎨 Art in Motion 2026

SATURDAY

Art in Motion returns to downtown Medicine Hat this Saturday.

From noon to 5 p.m., First Street will come alive with live art, music, dance, cultural performances, food vendors, an outdoor art market and hands-on activities for all ages.

The event runs from City Hall to the Medicine Hat Public Library, with the library also hosting its Paint a Bookend community art project from noon to 5 p.m.

Visitors are encouraged to explore downtown businesses and plan ahead for parking or take Medicine Hat Transit’s Park & Ride service.

🚎 Wartime History on the Sunshine Trolly

SATURDAY

A Sunshine Trolley tour Saturday will take participants through Medicine Hat’s wartime history, with stories about local people and places connected to military service.

The tour, led by lifelong Hatter Sally Sehn, begins and ends at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 17 at noon.

Stops along the route will feature stories about residents who served in combat.

A Legion representative will also offer a tour of the building and share the organization’s history.

The Legion restaurant will be open afterward for coffee or lunch.

Tourism Medicine Hat will donate part of the ticket proceeds to the local legion.

The tour is not wheelchair accessible because of stops on difficult terrain.

The Brooks Bandits will wrap up their preseason schedule this weekend.

After heading to Okotoks for a game on Friday, the Bandits will welcome the Oilers to the Centennial Regional Arena on Saturday.

🐦🕷 Interpretive Centre Bird and Spider Events

SUNDAY

Local bird enthusiasts can meet the authors of a new field guide to Alberta birds Sunday at the Nature Centre in Police Point Park.

Gavin McKinnon and David Scott will present their new A Field Guide to the Birds of Alberta from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., followed by a book signing. Copies will be available for purchase, or attendees can bring their own.

The event will also include a presentation on Nature Canada’s Bird Friendly City program.

Admission is free and registration is not required.

Families can get an up-close look at spiders during a free program Sunday at the Nature Centre in Police Point Park.

The Interpretive Program’s “Eight-Legged Friends” runs from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and will have participants searching for spiders using handheld microscopes and magnifying glasses.

The program will include an opportunity to meet Daphne, the Nature Centre’s resident black widow spider, and learn about the species found in the park.

The program is free, but registration is required because space is limited. Minors must be accompanied by a chaperone.

SUNDAY

The ice is in at the Kinplex Arena, and the Medicine Hat Cubs will host an exhibition game there on Sunday.

The Coaldale Copperheads will take on the Cubs at 6:15 p.m.

It will be a rematch of a Saturday game in Coaldale at 7 p.m.
