Medicine Hat Curling Club’s road to revival, ‘Caring for Curling’ fundraiser announced

Oct 6, 2023 | 2:00 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat Curling Club hasn’t been operating for two seasons now, including this one. Hope that the club will be open by January is quickly fading. Nevertheless, club members are actively engaged in planning, trying to raise much-needed funds to reopen their doors.

The Caring for Curling fundraiser was just announced by the club a day ago. It will be a steak dinner event, with two bands, a silent auction and 50/50 draws. Money raised would go towards a deposit for new equipment, that would be ordered within the next month. The tentative timeline for reopening the clubs doors is about nine months from now.

Vicki Sjolie is the manager of the Medicine Hat Curling Club. She hopes Hatters come together in support of this event.

“Even for people that don’t curl they say, ‘how can you not have a curling club or some place for curlers to go and in a city this size’ and it’s very true,” says Sjolie. “We’ve always been well supported in the curling community with the events that we’ve brought in over the years and we’d love to do that again.”

Caring for Curling will take place at the Medicine Hat Curling Club on November 18. Details on how to get tickets can be found here.
