BROOKS, AB – The Brooks Bandits and Spruce Grove Saints are familiar foes in the Alberta Junior Hockey League championship series, battling for league supremacy in five of the last eight series.

This year will make it six of the last nine.

The team will begin play for the Inter Pipeline Cup this weekend, with Games 1 and 2 in Brooks on Friday and Saturday.

The Bandits won in 2013, 2016, 2019 and 2022. The Saints won in 2015. Between them, the Bandits and Saints have won every AJHL championship since 2010.

Brooks defeated the Blackfalds Bulldogs and Spruce Grove defeated the Bonnyville Pontiacs in the division finals, both in five games.

The championship series will be a battle of the regular season division winners.

In the regular season, Brooks (53-5-1-1) finished six points ahead of Spruce Grove (49-7-2-2) and the teams split their two games. Brooks won 8-3 at home on Oct. 14 and Spruce Grove won a more defensive battle 2-0 on Dec. 9 in Spruce Grove.
