Feb 11, 2023 | 11:09 AM

Alberta Energy Minister Pete Guthrie announced Saturday he is to travel to Europe for the Oslo Energy Forum in Norway, Feb. 14-16.

The conference will focus on the future of the energy sector and addressing energy security, sustainability and affordability, the ministry notes in a release.

During the conference, Guthrie is sheduled to participate in a panel which will discuss solutions for hard-to-abate sector, and he plans to highlight Alberta’s “global leadership in carbon capture utilization and storage,” the release adds.

“Alberta is the best solution to the global energy crisis. We are strengthening relationships with international partners while promoting our energy sector as the affordable, reliable and responsible supplier. The world needs more Alberta energy – not less.”

After the forum in Oslo, Guthrie will head to Germany to promote Alberta natural gas products, including clean hydrogen and LNG. The Alberta government believes these are the best options for energy security and meeting Germany’s long-term energy needs.

Minister Guthrie will be accompanied by his chief of staff and one other representative from the ministry. Mission expenses will be posted on the travel and expense disclosure page.
