Preliminary trial date set for Deborah Belyea

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A preliminary trial date has been set for a Cypress County woman accused in the death of her husband, county councillor Alf Belyea.

The preliminary trial for Deborah Belyea, charged with second-degree murder, is scheduled for Jan. 9-13, 2023.

Alf Belyea was reported missing on Oct. 11, 2021. His remains were found on Oct. 15, and Deborah was charged the following day. She also faces one charge of causing an indignity to a human body.

Deborah has been in custody since she was charged and will be required to appear in court for the preliminary trial.
