Ribfest set to return to city next month

MEDICINE HAT, AB – After event after summer event has been cancelled in Medicine Hat due to COVID-19, good news is on the horizon.

Ribfest is nearing final confirmation for its three-day event starting on Aug. 7.

Organizer Andrew Reinhardt says Ribfest is getting ready to launch its seven-day Alberta tour in Medicine Hat pending final approval from Alberta Health Services.

And while there will still be the tasty ribs on offer, the way they’ll be served up will be a little different due to current health protocols.

“We did our first ever drive-thru Ribfest on Canada Day in Ontario. We saw 3,700 cars go through in one day,” said Reinhardt, adding the Hat event is set to follow the same format. “There will be four rib teams there and there will be a snake entrance and they will drive through pylons and they can pick their ribber.”

Reinhardt says there will be car-side service with ribbers cooking from a safe distance away from patrons.

This year’s Ribfest will be at Murry Chev.
