The Brooks Bandits have acquired the BCHL rights to forward Joey Sinclair from the Sherwood Park Crusaders in exchange for defenceman Lazarus Ebanoidze.

Sinclair, born in 2007, is currently playing for the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League and is committed to Bowling Green State University, an NCAA Division I program.

The forward spent last season with the Crusaders, recording 60 points, including 24 goals, in 54 games.

His performance earned him BCHL All-Star honours.

“With the abundance of 20-year-old players on our roster, we knew at some point we were going to have to make a difficult decision with our group,” Bandits general manager Wayne Labrie said in a statement.

“When the opportunity to acquire Joey’s BCHL rights became available, we felt it was simply too good to pass up,” he added.

“Joey is a talented offensive player with BCHL experience, skill, hockey sense and the ability to produce, a potential excellent fit for our program.”

Ebanoidze, a member of the Bandits’ 2025-26 BCHL championship team, played a key role on the Bandits’ blue line.

The Bandits play next on Oct. 9, when the host the Alberni Valley Bulldogs for the first meeting between the two teams.
