🏅 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

The 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games will conclude on Saturday in Medicine Hat.

Initial events began on Monday and have continued throughout the week.

On Saturday, medal events take place across Medicine Hat as the event enters its final day.

Basketball, bocce and soccer will feature gold and bronze-medal games, while tenpin bowling will conclude with its all-event all-around awards.

At Medicine Hat High School, the Red Rock Division basketball gold-medal game is scheduled for 8 a.m. The Medalta and Mavericks Division gold-medal games follow at 10 a.m.

Bocce medal action begins at Big Marble Go Centre at 8 a.m., with gold and bronze-medal finals across multiple singles divisions. Additional medal finals are scheduled for 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Soccer medal games will also take place at the Big Marble Go Centre’s Soccer Pitch.

The Medalta Division will have bronze and gold-medal games at 8 a.m., followed at 9:15 a.m. by bronze and gold-medal games in the Tigers Division and the Red Rock Division gold-medal game.

The Coulee Division’s bronze and gold-medal games are scheduled for 10:30 a.m.

The Tenpin Bowling All-Event All-Around Awards are at Medicine Hat College at 9 a.m.

The 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games have brought athletes, coaches, mission staff, families and supporters from across Canada to Medicine Hat for a week of competition.

🚎 Sunshine Trolley: Guided City Tour

FRIDAY, SATURDAY and SUNDAY

The Sunshine Trolley: Guided City Tour, fuelled by South Country Co-op, is running multiple times this weekend in Medicine Hat.

The tours offer an in-depth guided experience led by local Medicine Hat residents, highlighting the history of neighbourhoods and streets, as well as some of the city’s most recognizable landmarks.

Stops along the route will give passengers the chance to hop off and briefly explore key areas before continuing the tour.

Pick-up is at the Visitor Information Centre at 330 Gehring Rd. SW

Children 12 and under ride free thanks to sponsorship from the Medicine Hat Mavericks.

Tickets are required and available online at the Tourism Medicine Hat website.

Tours are about 90 minutes and are scheduled Friday and Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and Sunday at 10 a.m.

🍖 Medicine Hat Ribfest 2026

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, and SUNDAY

The Western Canada Ribfest Tour rolls into Medicine Hat this weekend.

The festival brings award-winning barbecue, live music and plenty of food, with pitmasters serving up ribs, brisket and other barbecue favourites.

Ribfest runs at Finlay Bridge on First Street Southeast.

It’s happening Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

🪴 Botanicals Night Market

FRIDAY

The annual Botanicals Night Market is returning to Medicine Hat this Friday.

The event runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., featuring more than 15 vendors and a special shopping area for young entrepreneurs.

Organizers say visitors can also enjoy live music, food trucks and family-friendly activities throughout the evening.

Botanicals is located at 505A North Railway St. S.E.

🚶 Historic Railway District Walking Tours

SATURDAY

Step back in time with Medicine Hat’s Historic Railroad Walking Tour on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The guided tour explores how the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway helped shape the city, bringing hotels, restaurants and other businesses to the area.

Participants will discover historic landmarks, hidden architectural details and ghost signs while hearing stories about the people who helped build the community.

The tour finishes at Hometown Culinary, where the building’s history as the 1947 OK Coffee Shop is celebrated with an iced coffee for just 25 cents.

Space is limited, and booking is required; tickets are available through tixx.ca.

🚘 Medicine Hat Boggers 17th Annual Mud Bog

SATURDAY

The 17th Annual Medicine Hat Mud Bog takes place at the Medicine Hat Drag Strip this Sunday starting at noon.

Admission is $15, with children 12 and under free.

The concession will be open, and there will be a beer garden on site.

🐦 Roving Interpreter at Central Park

SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program will host a free come-and-go event to learn about birds on Saturday at Central Park on the Southeast Hill, with a roving interpreter.

The event runs from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and will include bio-facts, books, and general knowledge about birds.

Registration is not required.

💃 Medicine Hat Latin Fest

SATURDAY

Medicine Hat’s first Latin Festival is set to bring music, dancing and food to Medalta this weekend.

The free, family-friendly event is on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., hosted by Mi Gente YXH.

The festival will feature mariachi performers, live Latin music, dance performances and beginner salsa and bachata classes.

Manny V. Y Su Esquina Latina Band will perform salsa, merengue, bachata and cumbia, while mariachi singers Gisela Romero and Antonio Bobadilla Amaral are also scheduled to take the stage.

Local food vendors will be on hand, along with a mercadito featuring local shopping.

Families can also take part in face painting and activities in a dedicated kids’ area, including free piñatas.

🏇 Indian Relay Racing

SATURDAY and SUNDAY

Indian Relay Racing returns to the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede this weekend.

The fast-paced event takes place on Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Organizers describe Indian Relay Racing as North America’s original extreme sport and one of its fastest-growing.

Skilled riders transfer from one horse to another every lap, making for a quick and high-energy competition.

Tickets are available through the Stampede’s office or online.
