A Western Canadian fuel fundraising campaign has raised more money than ever before, with more than $875,000 collected for nearly 200 local organizations.

Federated Co-operatives Limited says this year’s Fuel Good Day, held Sept. 15, surpassed the 2025 record of $795,000.

The annual campaign marked its 10th year and sees participating Co-op gas bars donate a minimum of five cents per litre of fuel sold to registered charities and non-profit organizations in their local communities.

The money raised this year will provide financial support to nearly 200 organizations across Western Canada, including volunteer fire departments, youth sports groups, daycare centres, food banks and animal shelters.

In southeast Alberta, South Country Co-op directed donations towards the Meals on Wheels organizations in Taber, Medicine Hat, Brooks, Redcliff, Oyen and Lethbridge. These locations also raised funds in other ways.

Heather Ryan, CEO of Federated Co-operatives Limited, credited Co-op employees, members and customers for the campaign’s record results.

“Thank you to every single person who participated,” Ryan said in a news release.

Fuel Good Day has now raised nearly $6.5 million since the campaign began, benefiting thousands of organizations across Western Canada.

Federated Co-operatives Limited is based in Saskatoon and provides support to more than 150 local Co-operatives across Western Canada.
