International basketball coach to bring player development clinics to Medicine Hat

Oct 13, 2026 | 4:50 PM

An international basketball coach is bringing player development clinics to Medicine Hat next month, giving young athletes a chance to learn from a coach with experience developing players in the United Kingdom and across Europe.

Rikki Broadmore, founder of The Secret Trainer and head coach and individual development specialist at Barking Abbey Basketball Academy in England, is scheduled to lead clinics in Medicine Hat on Nov. 5 as part of a tour organized by Golden Ticket Sports.

The clinics will be split into three groups: girls in grades 9 to 12 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., boys in grades 9 to 12 from 7:30 to 9 p.m., and players in grades 5 to 8 from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Broadmore has more than 15 years of academy coaching experience and has worked with developing, collegiate and professional athletes competing domestically and throughout Europe.

His approach focuses on developing skills through realistic game situations, with an emphasis on decision-making, creativity and applying skills under pressure.

The clinics are part of Golden Ticket Sports’ November tour, which includes stops in Regina, Swift Current, Lloydminster, Prince Albert and Saskatoon from Nov. 1 to 9.

The tour will offer athlete clinics and coach-development opportunities, with sessions tailored to different age groups and skill levels.

Golden Ticket Sports was founded in Saskatchewan in 2019 and delivers youth sports camps, clubs and academy programs in Saskatchewan and Alberta.

The Medicine Hat clinics are intended to bring specialized basketball instruction directly to local players, allowing them to learn from a visiting coach without travelling outside their community.

The tour’s athlete registration fee is listed at $60 per 90-minute session, but specific registration information for the Medicine Hat stop is expected to be released this week.
