The Canadian Finals Rodeo wrapped up on Saturday at Rogers Place in Edmonton, with Leader’s Grady Young taking home first place in bull riding.

The 20-year-old won two of the first three rides before he was bucked off both rides on Saturday. He finished the season with $85,765.30 in qualifying winnings, almost $12,000 more than the next rider.

Young finished second overall in the aggregate, one point behind Jordan Hansen, who both had three qualifying rides.

Maple Creek’s Kahl Wasilow placed sixth on the season after an 87.75 ride early Saturday, while finishing fourth in the aggregate.

Eatonia’s Dakota Buttar was fifth on the season and also in the aggregate after an 85.75 ride in the final round on Saturday.

Only six of the twelve riders had qualifying rides, with the bulls winning 46 of 57 rides.

Cypress County’s Hayes Howe finished fourth on the season in junior steer riding. He climbed the rankings by finishing second in the aggregate. He came into the event as the sixth seed.

Over four rounds, the 15-year-old took first place twice, with a 79.75 in round two and 68.75 in round four. Howe’s 72 in round three placed him fourth, and he was bucked off in round one.

In tie-down roping, Cypress County’s Tyler Popescul had qualifying times in all five rounds and finished 11th in the season. He was fifth in the aggregate.

Team roping had Consul’s Braden Brost and his teammate Tuftin McLeod place sixth in the season and third in the aggregate. The pair had registered no time in round one, but followed with times in the next four rounds. They took second in rounds two and three, third in round four, and fourth in round five.

Cypress County’s Trent Tunke and his teammate Levi Schmidt struggled through the CFR, as the only team ropers unable to register a time through five rounds. They finished ninth in the season and 12th in the aggregate.
