Oct 13, 2026 | 7:40 AM

The Medicine Hat Dynamic Industrial Cubs continue to have the best winning percentage in the Heritage Junior Hockey League’s Gary Wournell South Division.

After the weekend, the Cubs have four wins and one loss for eight points. They sit two points behind the Carstar Okotoks Bisons for first place, but have two games in hand.

They also have two games in hand on the Agri Risk Wheatland Kings, who they are one point behind.

The Cubs defeated the Kings 3-2 in overtime in Strathmore on Friday in their only weekend game.

Cubs defenceman Kade Dickie got his first HJHL goal to win the game 4:28 into the extra frame.

After receiving a pass from Lucas Dulle, Dickie cut to the middle of the ice, deked past a Kings defender and the goaltender, tucking a backhand shot home for the win.

Friday’s game also marked a return to the lineup for Josiah Jackson, who got an unassisted goal 15:43 into the second period to tie things up for the Cubs.

The Kings had started the scoring with a shorthanded goal late in the first period.

In the third period, Brodie Heimbecker scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season, picking the top corner from the top of the circle at 2:41 in. Assists on the goal went to Randen Collier and Jackson Brassard.

Adam Moore would score just over three minutes later on the power play to tie things up at two.

Cubs netminder Kayden Van Ham stopped 31 of 33 shots for the win in his first game back from a two-game suspension.

Connor White stopped 34 of 37 shots in net for the Kings.

The Cubs are on the road for two games this weekend.

First, in Rimbey on Saturday for their first game against the expansion Royals, and then on Sunday in Sylvan Lake against the Wranglers.
