Medicine Hat runner set to represent Canada at Backyard Ultra World Team Championship
Medicine Hat runner Keith Harder is preparing to test his endurance on an international stage as part of Team Canada at the 2026 Backyard Ultra World Team Championship.
The event is scheduled for Oct. 17 in Sicamous, B.C., where runners from 74 countries will compete simultaneously in their respective locations.
Harder, originally from Maple Creek, qualified for the 15-member Canadian team after winning the Old Man Backyard Ultra in Lethbridge in 2025 with 42 loops.
The Backyard Ultra format requires runners to complete a 6.7-kilometre loop every hour. Competitors can run at whatever pace they choose, but must complete each loop within the hour and be back at the starting area when the next hour begins.
