SAHA U18 Prep team starts season on Thursday at Edge Hockey Classic in Calgary

Defenceman Hunter Saddleback returns for a second year, while the forward group includes fellow Tigers prospects Max Osgood, Duke Lesnar and Casey Pearson, along with goaltender Ben Meyer.

Returning from last year’s team, in addition to Saddleback, are defenceman Linden Andersen, a Swift Current Broncos prospect, and forwards Dylan Sherban, a Seattle Thunderbirds prospect, along with Cypress County’s Carson Ward and Wainwright’s Aidan Poulin.

Several players have advanced from SAHA’s U17 Prep team.

Included is Red Deer Rebels goaltender prospect Chase Nielson, who recently signed a WHL Scholarship and Development agreement.

Hometown players defenceman Owen Fisher and forwards Liam Green and Carter Gilchrist are also jumping up to the U18 level. Gilchrist is a Victoria Royals prospect.

Additional players moving up are defenceman Mason Woychyshyn, forwards Eric Schrock and Nixon Bettenson. Bettenson is a Prince George Cougars prospect.

The lineup is filled out by players joining from other programs. Defenceman Ronin Martin joins from the Yale Hockey Academy U18 Prep team.

Two forwards also new to SAHA are Zach Schwartz from the Edmonton Jr. Oilers U18 AAA team and Cohenn Rotar from the Calgary International Hockey Academy U18 Prep team. Rotar is a Swift Current Broncos Prospect.

Pool play continues for SAHA on Friday with a game against the Vancouver NE Chiefs, and on Saturday when they take on the Palm Springs Hockey Academy.

SAHA is part of the Jake Sanderson Division. Each of the four divisions is named after Edge program alumni.
