Conservative’s agriculture shadow minister condemns decision to ignore committee report

The federal Conservative’s critic for agriculture is condemning Ottawa’s repsonse to a standing committee report, deeming it a betrayal. 

Shadow minister and Foothills MP, John Barlow, said that rejecting the recommendations of the bipartisan document are a betrayal to producers. 

By not reversing the closure of seven agricultural research stations, Barlow, in a statement, added it poses a threat to food security. 

He believes the Carney government’s decision not to keep the stations open will destroy Canada’s decades of innovation and research.
