Medicine Hat Tigers conclude preseason with home-and-home against the Swift Current Broncos

“It’s been a competitive camp; we’re still at 11 defensemen, and we’re gonna have to try to cut down to seven or eight so it’s still going to be competive here for a little while,” said Tigers Associate Coach Joe Frazer, who oversees the Tigers back-end.

“Every guy is showing well, that’s why they’re still here”, he added.

With the increased competition on the blueline, the Tigers will ice a lineup featuring seven defensemen tonight as they continue to evaluate who will make their opening day roster.

Cash Christie will start tonight for the Tigers as he gets his second crack at preseason hockey.

Christie started the first half of the Tabbies preseason opener in Lethbridge, where he turned aside 18 of 19 shots.

The Tigers went 3-1 against Swift Current during the 2025-26 regular season, and this weekend will be the only time the former divisional rivals meet until January 15th, 2027, when their first battle of the regular season takes place.

After a lacklustre 2025-26 campaign that featured a 16-game losing streak, the Swift Current Broncos are looking to bounce back and contend in what could be a wide-open East Division.

Puck drop from inside Co-op Place is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. MST and tickets can be purchased at the Co-op Place box office for $20.
