Shortly afterward, police received reports that the vehicle had collided with a parked vehicle on Smithson Street S.E., after which the occupants abandoned the vehicle nearby and fled on foot.

Officers established containment in the area and deployed a police service dog and a drone to assist in the search, locating two suspects a short distance away who were taken into custody without incident.

One youth is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and several offences under the Traffic Safety Act.

The youth has been released from custody with conditions and is scheduled to appear in Youth Justice Court on Oct. 29.

The second youth is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and failure to comply with a youth probation order and was remanded into custody, with a Youth Justice Court appearance scheduled for Sept. 14.

The youths cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
