Veterans Walkway in Medicine Hat’s Memorial Park offers lasting tribute to veterans
A new Veterans Walkway in Medicine Hat’s Memorial Park is giving local veterans a lasting place to remember those who served and sacrificed for their country.
Edward Devine, a veteran of 40 years of service, helped push for the project after initially proposing the veterans crosswalk between City Hall and Memorial Park, which has since faded over time.
Devine said moving the tribute into the park will help preserve it from the wear and tear of Medicine Hat’s weather and traffic.
“All monuments, whether they’re painted or not, are very important for veterans, to remember those that have given their lives so the likes of yourself, myself, can live the life we live today,” Devine said.
