A fan appreciation pancake breakfast began at 8 a.m., with racing underway at 10 a.m. and continuing until 3 p.m. before racers head to Saskatoon.

It also marked the final race before renovations begin on the dragstrip lanes.

The Medicine Hat Drag Racing Association is asking for community support as it works to replace its aging concrete racing lanes.

The association said the project will help maintain the track and support future racing events in the community.
