People are encouraged to monitor for symptoms of heat-related illness, including high body temperature, lack of sweating, confusion, fainting and unconsciousness.

Those most at risk include infants, children, seniors, outdoor workers and individuals with pre-existing health conditions affecting the lungs, heart, kidneys, nervous system or those living with diabetes.

The heat warning remains in effect for the City of Medicine Hat.

Residents are encouraged to continue monitoring Environment Canada forecasts and alerts as the hot weather continues.

The air quality in the area is also expected to remain at a moderate risk level over the next few days.

When at this level, the at-risk population is advised to consider reducing or rescheduling strenuous outdoor activities if experiencing symptoms.

The general population does not need to modify their usual outdoor activities unless experiencing symptoms such as coughing and throat irritation.
