😎 Spectrum Festival 2026

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY

Medicine Hat’s Spectrum Festival returns to Kin Coulee Park this weekend with three days of live music, wrestling, cultural events and family activities.

New additions this year include a multicultural festival on Sunday, a first responders day on Saturday and the inaugural Spectrum Skatejam skateboard competition.

The event will also feature food trucks, a vendor market, a free kids zone and performances from local and regional musicians.

Entertainment and activities at the festival are mostly free to attend.

It all begins on Friday when the gates open at 4 p.m.

A pancake breakfast will take place on Saturday at 9 a.m.

🎭 Joy Comes in the Morning at the Monarch Theatre

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

The Monarch Theatre in Medicine Hat is presenting “Joy Comes in the Morning,” which began on Thursday and runs until Saturday.

The shows are scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday, with doors open one hour before each performance.

Tickets are available at Cafe Verve or at the door of the theatre, with a cash-only concession.

SATURDAY

The Saamis Rotary Club hosts a day dedicated to keeping electronic waste, paint and other recyclable materials out of the landfill on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Collection will be at the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede Grounds.

Accepted items will include electronics, paint & paint containers, tires, used oil materials, batteries, and household hazardous waste.

🤠 Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede Open House

SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede is hosting its first-ever Boots on the Ground Open House at the Cypress Centre Auditorium on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., running right alongside the Farmers’ Market.

Entry is free, and booths will include members from every committee, volunteer registration, a photo booth, door prizes and more.

🚶 Medicine Hat Investors Group Walk for Alzheimer’s

SATURDAY

The annual IG Walk for Alzheimer’s in Medicine Hat takes place on Saturday.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with the walk to follow at 11 a.m.

A lunch will take place following the event, with a BBQ, kids’ zone, and yard games.

It’s located at Kiwanis Central Park at 900 Third Ave. SE.

Hundreds of walkers will raise awareness and funds to support people living with dementia in the Medicine Hat area.

📕 Events at the Library

SATURDAY

Several events take place at the Medicine Hat Public Library on Saturday morning.

Read to Darby goes from 10 a.m. to noon. Darby the dog is joined by Melissa, a certified Pet Partners Therapy Team. Darby enjoys listening to stories and making new friends. Children need to be accompanied by a parent or other adult caregiver during their visit with Darby.

Find your Family Tree is from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. You can sign up for a one-on-one session with a Library Staff Member to learn how to use the Library edition of Ancestry and FamilySearch. Staff will demonstrate how the program works and provide some time for you to practice using it. Online registration is required at www.mhpl.info/register.

Kitty Cat Storycraft for children between four and six years old with an adult caregiver is from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. May 30th is International Hug Your Cat Day. You can celebrate with stories, songs, and a craft, and learn about cats who are up for adoption through the Medicine Hat SPCA. Online registration is required at www.mhpl.info/register

A peer support group run by neurodivergent young adults, with support from the Medicine Hat Autism Society, takes place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It is a safe place for neurodivergent young adults who are autistic, have ADHD, and more to visit and learn about resources that may be available to them.

🛼 Battle of the Juniors Roller Derby

SATURDAY

A full day of Junior Roller Derby takes place at the Medicine Hat Curling Centre on Saturday.

There will be three games and a junior scrimmage.

The Gas City Igniters take on the Rocky View Rebels at 11 a.m. At 1:30 p.m., Calgary Junior Roller Derby faces the Gas City Igniters. A scrimmage starts at 3:30 p.m., and is followed by the Rocky View Rebels against Calgary Junior Roller Derby at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for the day, and those 12 and under are free.

There is limited seating, and spectators are invited to bring their own seats.

☁️ Interpretive Centre

SATURDAY and SUNDAY

The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program will be hosting an interactive pop-up event called Cloud Spotting: The Prairie Sky on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., located out back of the Nature Centre by the rock circle.

The program is focused on weather, observation and the natural world. Participants will learn about cloud types, prairie weather and how observing the sky and our environment can help us better understand the world around us. Visitors will have the opportunity to create their own decorative cloud viewers using printed cloud guides while learning how to identify common cloud formations such as cumulus, cirrus, and stratus clouds. The program will also include a small interpretive display featuring weather science, cloud formation information, and ways to help care for local natural spaces. Registration is not required for this family-friendly event.

Attendees are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring blankets, lawn/camping chairs, water and sun protection for comfort.

A River Walk is hosted on Sunday from noon to 1 p.m., meeting at the first parking lot at Police Point Park.

If you want to know what kind of animals, plants and other living organisms are living in the South Saskatchewan River, you are encouraged to join for a walk and talk about the importance of rivers in our ecosystems. Proper footwear for the weather and location is recommended. Participants will walk around the riverbank. This is a free, hour-long program that is open to the public.

🥍️ Badlands Sun Devils Lacrosse

SATURDAY

The Badlands Sun Devils host the Foothills Spurs for some Junior B Lacrosse action on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Kinplex.

Admission is free, and there will be a 50/50 raffle on site.

🎸 Rumours – The Ultimate Fleetwood Mac Tribute Show

SATURDAY

Rumours – The Ultimate Fleetwood Mac tribute show relives the rock and roll magic of Fleetwood Mac live on the stage at the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre. Limited tickets remained on tixx.ca as of Friday morning. The show is Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

🚶 Medicine Hat’s Jayman BUILT MS Walk

SUNDAY

Medicine Hat’s Jayman BUILT MS Walk is on Sunday in support of people living with MS.

Participants can choose between one-kilometre and five-kilometre walk routes.

It takes place in over 50 communities across the country, with a flexible virtual participation option for those unable to join in person.

Participation in the walk is free, although organizers encourage fundraising through pledges and donations.

The Medicine Hat walk will be held at Strathcona Island Park, with registration beginning at 10 a.m., opening ceremonies at 11 a.m., and the walk following shortly after.

🥊🏀🏐Sports Wall of Fame Induction Ceremony

SUNDAY

The Big Marble Go Centre in Medicine Hat will host this year’s Sports Wall of Fame induction ceremony on Sunday at 7 p.m.

This year’s inductees are Robert Grisonich, Wade Peterson and Wes King-Hunter, recognized for their long-standing contributions to volleyball, basketball and boxing in Medicine Hat and beyond.

Grisonich is being honoured for decades of involvement in school athletics and sporting event organization.

Peterson is recognized for his achievements as a boxer, coach, referee and judge, including officiating at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

King-Hunter is being recognized for more than 35 years of contributions to volleyball as a coach, educator and builder, including leadership roles with provincial organizations and national programs.

The event is free and open to the public.
