Police and local Medicine Hat schools issue warning over high-potency THC edibles
The Medicine Hat Public School Division, Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education, and Prairie Rose Public Schools are urging families to speak with students about drug safety following reports of high-potency THC edibles circulating among youth in the community.
In a joint awareness message with the Medicine Hat Police Service, officials say some teens have accessed high-dose THC gummies purchased online through a Canadian distribution website, describing the situation as isolated but emphasizing that raising awareness is key to preventing harm.
According to the message, some gummies claim to contain up to 1,250 milligrams of THC per piece, far exceeding the 10-milligram limit permitted in regulated cannabis products in Canada.
Officials warn that such high doses can lead to serious adverse effects, particularly if the consumer is unaware of the product’s potency.
