Hlinka Gretzky Cup kicks off with four Medicine Hat Tigers playing

The Medicine Hat Tigers have four players taking part in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Slovakia and Czechia beginning Monday.

Representing Canada are twin brothers Markus and Liam Ruck, with their first contest underway at 7:30 a.m. MST against Finland.

In a pair of pre-tournament games Canada won 7-1 over Hungary on Thursday, and 7-0 over Slovakia on Saturday.

The 17-year old forwards Markus and Liam each had an assist in the game Saturday.

Named an alternate captain for Team USA forward Schaeffer Gordon-Carroll will play on a team with a new Tigers teammate in forward Noah Davidson.

The Americans first game against Slovakia take place at 11 a.m. MST

In a pre-tournament game on Saturday against Czechia, both Gordon-Carroll and Davidson scored, with Gordon-Carroll also picking up an assist in a 4-3 Team USA win.
