Montana/Alberta American Legion “AA” State Baseball Tournament final at Athletic Park Sunday

Aug 3, 2025 | 10:24 AM

The Montana/Alberta Legion AA State Baseball Tournament final will be played at Athletic Park Sunday at 11 a.m.

The Billings Scarlets will take on the Missoula Mavericks.

Coming into the game, the Scarlets have three wins and one loss at the tournament, so there will need to defeat the Mavericks twice if they want to win the tournament, with it being a double knockout event.

A perfect 4-0 record for the Mavericks came with wins over the Great Falls Chargers on Wednesday, the same Scarlets team they are facing in the finals 1-0 on Thursday, a 2-0 win over the Helena Senators on Friday, and a 10-9 decision over the Billings Royals on Saturday.

The Scarlets road to the finals came with the one blip against the Mavericks, but also included a 2-1 win over the Kalispell Lakers on Wednesday, and identical 3-1 wins over both the Bozeman Bucks on Friday, and Helena Senators on Saturday.

Coming into the tournament the Mavericks held the number two rank, while the Scarlets were ranked third.

The top seed which both teams defeated to eliminate was the Helena Senators.

The host Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs came into the tournament as the eighth seed team, and dropped a Thursday game 7-1 to the Helena Senators, while struggling Friday in the game with the Bozeman Bucks, a 15-0 loss.
