Three members of the Medicine Hat Tigers 2025 Ed Chynoweth Cup winning team are off to a strong start with Team Canada at the World Junior Summer Showcase in Minneapolis, Minn.

Forwards Gavin McKenna, Cayden Lindstrom and Ryder Ritchie are among 44 players looking to make the narrowed down group of 36 players to practice, scrimmage and play in exhibition games with Team Canada at the event.

During the intrasquad game Tuesday between Canada Red and Canada White, Lindstrom was able to score a pair of goals for Canada White, with one assisted by McKenna.

Ritchie also had an assist for Canada White on a goal scored by forward Terik Parascak.

Canada White went on to win 4-3 in a shootout, on a goal from forward Carson Wetsch who put it passed goaltender Evan Gardner.

McKenna and Ritchie both failed to score on Garner earlier in the shootout.

Canada plays their first official game of the tournament Wednesday against Finland at 3:30 p.m., before taking on Sweden on Friday and the United States on Sunday.

All three former Tigers are set to play NCAA Division I hockey this season, with McKenna at Penn State, Lindstrom with Michigan State University, and Ritchie heading to Boston University.

The trio will have their sights set on representing Canada at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship from Dec.26-Jan. 5 in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
