Murder charges laid following fatal hit-and-run in Siksika Nation

The RCMP has laid a trio of charges against a southern Alberta man who is accused of killing two people and critically injuring another.

On Saturday, July 26, 2025, five people were walking along the 54 Map 3 Subdivision in the Siksika First Nation when they were struck by a vehicle.

The two people who died are both from Siksika Nation.

They have now been identified as Trayton Runningbird, 27, and Clifton Saddleback, 45.

A third victim, a 45-year-old Siksika woman, remains in hospital in critical condition.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has charged a 27-year-old Siksika Nation man with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

The man remains in custody and is set to appear in court in Drumheller.
