The Correctional Service of Canada said Friday an inmate has died while in custody at Drumheller Institution.
Donald Bernard Pepper, 49, began serving a sentence of two years and six months on June 16.
Due to privacy regulations, the CSC could not confirm where Pepper was in court or what his charges were.
His next of kin have been notified.
The medical examiner continues to investigate the circumstances around Pepper’s death, the CSC said.
