Brooks RCMP have charged a woman with driving under the influence after they say she was seen driving erratic at an excessive speed.

Wednesday afternoon at 2:43 p.m. Brooks RCMP received multiple complaints regarding driver traveling eastbound on Highway 1 toward Brooks.

When Mounties located the vehicle, which they say was observed traveling at 150 km/h, they conducted a traffic stop.

RCMP said the female driver displayed signs of impairment and registered a “fail” on the Approved Screening Device.

She was arrested for impaired driving and brought back to the Brooks RCMP detachment to continue the investigation.

While at the detachment the female refused to provide samples of her breath and was subsequently charged with refusal and operating while impaired.

This was the driver’s second impaired driving offence.

As a result, she received provincial sanctions of $2,400, a 36-month driver’s license suspension, and her vehicle was impounded.

Additionally Mounties issued a $360 ticket for speeding.

She is set to appear in court August 13 on her criminal matters.
