A drone show is planned for the evening of June 30 as part of Medicine Hat’s Canada Day festival, organizers say.

It was revealed Friday the show will close out the Glow Up the Globe events taking place at Kin Coulee Park that night.

It’s the second year that festivities are being organized by a new Canada Day Society with volunteers from The Connection group and the Medicine Hat Skateboard Association.

The drones are filling a spot left open by fireworks that have been moved to the evening of July 1 this time around.

Then on July 1, organizers are planning a full day of events, activities, sports, music, entertainment and vendors.

The Beat the Heat Skate Competition is back for another year, too.

A free pancake breakfast will take place at 9 a.m. on Canada Day, along with a variety of other activities.
