Here is What’s On in Medicine Hat this weekend: July 10-12

The second weekend of July is going to be warm with a variety of things happening throughout Medicine Hat.

Environment Canada’s forecast for Friday shows a sunny sky turning to a mix of sun and cloud in the afternoon. Wind gusts of up to 40 km/h are expected with a high of 33 C. In the evening, partly cloudy, then becoming clear late in the evening. Wind gusts to 40 km/h before becoming light, and a low of 16.

Saturday projects as mainly sunny with wind gusts to 40 km/h near noon and a high of 35 C. In the evening, clear and a low of 15 C.

On Sunday, sunny with a high of 32 C. At night, clear with a low of 14 C.

Here is what’s on in Medicine Hat and area this weekend.

🛩 Family, Fun, and Flight Airshow

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

The gates open for the Family, Fun and Flight Airshow at the Medicine Hat Regional Airport on Friday at 3 p.m., and admission is free.

The SkyHawks parachute team will complete a jump at 4 p.m., and there is a meet-and-greet with the pilots at 6 p.m. Gates will remain open until 7 p.m.

On Saturday, the gates open at noon. There is a $5 admission cost, with cash preferred.

Identical flying demonstrations are taking place at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., featuring performances by the South Alberta Flight AcademyHALO HelicopterYellow Thunder, aerobatic pilot Neil Harris and Kyle Fowler.

The City of Medicine Hat has also announced traffic changes that will take effect for the airshow this weekend.

No left turns will be permitted onto Airport Drive from westbound Gershaw Drive; a detour will be in place to access the airport.

The traffic accommodations will remain in effect through Saturday evening, and motorists should expect delays due to increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

The City said that residents near the airport may also notice higher-than-normal noise levels during the airshow.

⚾️ Medicine Hat Mavericks

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Mavericks host the Regina Red Sox at Athletic Park on Friday and Saturday. Both games start at 6:45 p.m.

On Friday, food donations are being accepted for the Root Cellar Food and Wellness Hub.

On Saturday, it’s the annual superhero night in support of #dominicstrong, raising money for the Alberta Children’s Hospital. The Mavs will wear specially designed superhero hats during the game. 

👑 STAMPEDE QUEEN CONTEST

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

The Stampede Queen Contest kicked off on Thursday with the Horsemanship competition, and continues on Friday with the Speech Night at Higdon Hall. It includes dinner at 6 p.m. and speeches at 7 p.m. Tickets are $35 each and are purchased in advance at the Stampede Office.

On Saturday, there is a fashion show at Higdon Hall. Doors open at 12:30 p.m., and the show starts at 1 p.m. Admission is by donation to the Royalty Program.

🎸 Concert series 2026 at Note: comfort food + drink

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

Christian Howse, a multi-award-nominated artist hailing from Newfoundland, performs a concert with a sound that includes punk, folk and math-rock.

The show begins Friday at 7 p.m. at Note: comfort food + drink in downtown Medicine Hat.

Tickets are $20 and available online.

Saturday’s show is an Evening with Cara Lianne McLeod featuring Neville Bowman and Adam Pettigrew.

The trio of musicians will perform. McLead and Bowman will each sing, while Bowman will also play the piano, and Pettigrew will be on the bass.

Tickets are $20, and the show starts at 7 p.m.

🥞 Gas City Aviators Fly in/Dine In Breakfast

SATURDAY

Before the airshow opens at noon on Saturday, the Gas City Aviators are hosting a Fly in/Dine In Breakfast at the Medicine Hat Airport.

From 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., breakfast will be served on-site for $10.

🚶 Historic First Street Walking Tours

SATURDAY

The Historic First Street Southeast Walking Tour takes place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The walking tour takes place through one of Medicine Hat’s most historic neighbourhoods.

You will walk the tree-lined boulevard of First Street Southeast and discover the stories of the city’s earliest settlers.

The tour departs from the Esplanade, and tickets are available through tixx.ca.

🚎 Sunshine Trolley: Guided City Tour

FRIDAY, SATURDAY and SUNDAY

The Sunshine Trolley: Guided City Tour, fuelled by South Country Co-op, is running multiple times this weekend in Medicine Hat.

The tours offer an in-depth guided experience led by local Medicine Hat residents, highlighting the history of neighbourhoods, streets, and some of the city’s most recognizable landmarks.

Stops along the route will give passengers the chance to hop off and briefly explore key areas before continuing the tour.

Pick-up is at the Visitor Information Centre at 330 Gehring Rd. SW

Children 12 and under ride free thanks to sponsorship from the Medicine Hat Mavericks.

Tickets are required and available online at the Tourism Medicine Hat website.

📓 Nature Journal with the Medicine Hat Interpretive Program

SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program is hosting a mini-series about Nature Journaling.

The program has several instalments planned.

On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., they will meet at the Saratoga Parking lot off of Carry Drive.

There is a $10 donation fee to the Interpretive Program to attend, and registration is required.

This will go towards a journal and other supplies participants can use, such as watercolours, glue, cutouts, and tape.

The donation will be matched up to 50 per cent through Rogers Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink. Rogers Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink is a non-profit program under the Calgary Shaw Charity Classic Foundation. This program is designed to help raise new funds for local charities, engage the community in the tournament, and provide matching funds for each charity involved.

They ask you to bring a lawn chair, water bottle, sunscreen, and whatever else you need for the outdoors.

🎸 District Days Market at Medalta

SATURDAY and SUNDAY

The Market at Medalta is back for two days on Saturday and Sunday.

The Historic Clay District comes alive with local artisans, food, live music, and community celebration.

It includes handcrafted goods from more than 20 local artisans, a chance to explore Medalta’s historic spaces, and free museum and gallery tours, including the Shaw Centre.

It’s open on Saturday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Saturday afternoon includes face painting, a bouncy castle and a special concert with Mr. Trent starting at 4 p.m.

The evening will include a free live concert with Mahoney starting in the courtyard at 7 p.m.

Sunday will also feature music from Christie Kurpjuweit from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It’s all part of the 40th anniversary celebration.

A free screening of the Medalta documentary “Clay, Creativity & the Comeback” by Luke Fandrich will also take place on Friday at 7 p.m. in the reception gallery. Those interested are asked to register online, as seating is limited .

🧑‍🎨 Pop Up Art Walk

A pop-up art walk takes place on Saturday evening in downtown Medicine Hat. It runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and includes nine stops.

📽 Medicine Hat Speedway Presents: Drive-in Movie on the Track and Penny Carnival

SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Speedway hosts its Drive-in Movie on the Tracks and Penny Carnival on Saturday night, with gates opening at 7 p.m.

The Penny Carnival brings free‑to‑play games for kids.

The Co‑op Concession will be open from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

When the carnival wraps up, the drive‑in movie starts at dusk.

Showing is F1 featuring Brad Pitt, and admission is $35 per vehicle.

🍬 Glenview Nazarene Church Stampede Roundup

SUNDAY

The third annual Glenview Nazarene Church Stampede Round Up is this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event includes free food, cotton candy, face painting, and bouncy castles.
