Spectrum Festival takes place in Medicine Hat over the weekend beginning Friday in Kin Coulee Park.

The festival hosts the best local artists and bands, artisans and vendors the city has to offer.

The Coulchella festival is back for a second year as well, featuring two full days of live music from local bands.

Organizer Ryan Baker said the events revolve around kids, family, fun and entertainment.

He said it was emphasized to make as much of the Spectrum Festival free for the family.

“We’ve got wrestling, we’ve got all of our sports, we’ve got a vendor market, we’ve got community booths,” he said Friday.

“It’s really about community, entertainment, family, and just all-around fun.”

Additionally the festival will offer a variety of food trucks and a beer garden, as well as bouncy castles and games.

Baker said his favourite part of the festival is the Pure Power Wrestling shows that will take place Friday through Sunday.

“They draw a huge crowd. And Medicine Hat’s a wrestling city, you know,” he said.

“Whenever there’s big events that come through for wrestling, a lot of people come, and it’s probably our biggest draw,” he added.

“We see thousands of people come down here through the weekend.”

Spectrum Festival runs from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
