Cineplex asks Medicine Hat moviegoers to not disrupt ‘A Minecraft Movie’ viewings

Apr 11, 2025 | 1:48 PM

Galaxy Cinemas Medicine Hat put up signs this week around and outside of the theatre due to safety concerns after the release of ‘A Minecraft Movie’.

Theatres across North America have issued warnings regarding moviegoers following trends that go against theatre policies.

The movie opened April 3 as one of the highest grossing video game adaptations of all time, drawing crowds that have at times caused trouble.

Actions have included disruptive shouting during certain scenes of the movie, and throwing popcorn and drinks in theatres and at other moviegoers.

A sign posted at Medicine Hat Galaxy Cinemas reads that throwing food in the theatre will result in immediate removal from the movie without a refund.

Cineplex said that with major blockbuster releases, at times movie excitement can turn into disruptive behavior.

“Our team does their best to resolve [the behavior] in the moment,” Cineplex spokesperson Michelle Saba told CHAT News Friday.

“As always, we want to ensure moviegoing is fun for everyone and ask our guests to abide by our code of conduct which is posted on our website and in our venues.”

Galaxy Cinemas Medicine Hat declined CHAT News’ request for comment.
