A Medicine Hat man has been arrested after allegedly stealing a pair of vehicles.

On Sunday, Brooks RCMP received a report of a suspicious male and female asking for fuel at a residence on Highway 544, according to a news release.

When the homeowner refused, the pair abandoned the vehicle they had been driving in the driveway and proceeded to a neighboring property, where they stole a truck.

An officer arrived at the scene and discovered that the abandoned vehicle had been reported stolen out of Redcliff, police say.

Officers later located the stolen truck and arrested the driver.

The Medicine Hat man was charged with theft over $5,000 and possession of stolen property worth over $5,000.

He was brought before a Justice of the Peace and remanded and is set to appear in court on Wednesday.

A 15-year-old was also charged with possession of property obtained by crime.
