Emergency department closed for 48 hours in Bow Island

Mar 11, 2025 | 5:11 AM

The emergency department at Bow Island Health Centre will close temporary for two days due to an unexpected shortage of clinical personnel.

The closure will last from 7 a.m. on Tuesday until 7 a.m. on Thursday.

Alberta Health Services says nursing staff will remain on-site to provide care for acute care patients and long-term care residents during the temporary closure.

Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency.

EMS services are prepared to respond to emergency events and support inter-facility transfers to neighbouring sites.

Patients seeking care can access emergency services at the Taber Health Centre or the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, both located 57 kilometres away.
