Man accused of transporting drugs to Medicine Hat arrested, handgun seized
A Calgary man accused of smuggling drugs to Medicine Hat was arrested by Alberta’s ALERT unit in Brooks last Friday, police say.
ALERT, with help from Brooks RCMP, stopped the 28-year-old man’s vehicle and found just over one kilogram of methamphetamine and a loaded Glock handgun inside.
The man already had a lifetime firearms prohibition as the result of a 2021 manslaughter conviction and was immediately arrested, police said in a statement.
The Calgary man was charged possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and multiple firearms-related offences.
