WINNIPEG — Winnipeg police are investigating a shooting in the parking lot of a soccer complex that left a 22-year-old man dead.

Police say they were called to the scene late Saturday night and found a man with gunshot wounds.

He was transported to hospital but died.

The victim has been identified as Mohamed Yusuf Abdullahi, of Winnipeg, and police say they do not believe the shooting was random.

The incident followed the final games of the Canada African Cup of Nations soccer tournament, and tournament organizers say the tragedy is unrelated to the games.

Police say the victim had finished playing and was leaving the event when he was shot.
