Gas City Ball Hockey League season ramping up

Mar 25, 2024 | 1:20 PM

With ice hockey season’s quickly wrapping up, athletes may be looking for an alternative to keep their edge.

The Gas City Ball Hockey League is starting their season up.

The league said 315 young athletes have already signed up for the season, having grown from 300 last year.

The steady growth rate could be seen as slow, but something league president Tony Hasiuk said was intentional.

Haiuk said that the league is in a mild expansion and offers a chance for athletes to compete without taking the game too seriously.

“One of the other things that we pride ourselves on is just, we’re here for fun,” Hasiuk said.

“It’s a house league and we have really good players and it’s a really good opportunity for those players to get to mentor some younger kids and also gives the less skill players and the new players a chance to play with the high level players,” he added.

“It gives the opportunity to be coached and also to be a coach and a mentor.”

Deadlines for signing up is April 6. Registration information can be found on their site.
