Glory and her handler Cst. Jason Dola

Meet Glory, the newest facility dog with the Medicine Hat Police Service

A few months ago we met Mulder in a series about the Medicine Hat Police Service facility dogs.

Now that Mulder is on his way to retirement, Glory has arrived to help with the workload, alongside Athena who arrived in 2022.

Glory has big paws to fill, but is already working hard to do so.

Glory arrived at the police service in December. She has been working alongside her handler Const. Jason Dola.

Glory, trained by Dogs with Wings, provides emotional support and comfort to children and adults who have been victims of violent crimes or difficult circumstances.

Right now, Glory is still in the process of acclimatizing to the facility and supporting victims through police service interviews.

Though Dola and Glory are like coworkers, they’ve also become family.

“I always said that K-9 was the best gig in the police service, but now I have to say this is the best gig,” Dola told CHAT News.

“There’s something about coming to work and going home with a dog that wants to be with you all the time. They’re there to support you, they support me, they support the other members of the police service and it’s just amazing to see.”

Glory has not started supporting victims in court yet, but Dola hopes she will be ready for it in a few months.

If you see Glory or Athena out in public, remember that they are working dogs, and ask before petting them.
