Three dead after following through ice in Saskatchewan

Humboldt, SK–Two men and a female child are dead after falling though the ice on Stoney Lake in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. Humboldt is 113 kilometres east of Saskatoon.

RCMP responded to a residence on Saturday afternoon to assist the Humboldt Fire Department and local EMS after a report that numerous people had fallen through the ice.

According to witnesses, there were five individuals in the water. Three were observed in open water and were able to be rescued by firefighters. An adult female and one child were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. One child was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two adult men did not resurface. The Saskatchewan RCMP Underwater Recovery Team conducted searches of the water on Sunday and shortly after 5p.m., both men were found deceased.
