Fatal accident claims the lives of three local residents

Medicine Hat, AB–Three local residents are dead following a crash on Highway 1 in the Tilley area Friday afternoon.

According to a preliminary investigation, a sedan travelling faster than the speed limit crossed the meridian and collided with the pickup truck.

The collision happened around 4:30 p.m. near Township Road 164.

When RCMP arrived on scene, Brooks EMS and the Tilley Fire Department had already arrived.

EMS pronounced the three people in the sedan deceased on scene, a 37-year old male and 31-year old female, both from Medicine Hat, and a 33-year-old man from Redcliff.

There were 6 people in the truck and they received medical attention for various injuries, none of which were life threatening according to RCMP.

RCMP remained on scene for several hours while the Collision Analyst conducted their investigation.
