Premier Smith in Medicine Hat for funding announcement for new facility

Medicine Hat, AB – Premier and MLA for Brooks-Medicine Hat, Danielle Smith was in the city today to announce the provinical government’s contribution to a new manufacturing facility.

Based in Swift Current, S3 groups operates five facilities across North America and provides engineering and manufacturing solutions for agricultural equipment.

S3 group is expanding into Medicine Hat by investing $7-million in a new 22,000 square-foot facility that is projected to begin manufacturing at the end of 2023. S3 also anticipates establishing an engineering centre of excellence in Medicine Hat by 2028 that will support new product development.

S3 group is receiving $1.3-million from the provinicial government’s Investment and Growth Fund. The fund which was established in 2021 is meant to provide an additional incentive for companies considering investing in Alberta.

“Medicine Hat and southeast Alberta have a vibrant agricultre sector that will no doubt benefit from having S3 Group’s equipment and manufacturing expertise in its own backyard,” stated Smith.

Richelle Andreas, Chief Executive Officer of S3 group stated “while working with the teams at Invest Alberta, the City of Medicine Hat, and other regional stakeholders, it was striking how much they genuinely wanted to help our project succeed.”

Mayor Linnsie Clark said the city is thrilled that both the S3 group and the provincial government chose to invest in Medicine Hat.

“We are very grateful for the support that the Alberta government provided through the Investment and Growth Fund to help make this amazing opportunity a reality,” added Clark.

S3’s manufacturing facility is estimated to create 100 permanent and 14 temporary jobs.
