Watch Live the Public Hearing on Utility Rates

Medicine Hat, AB–A public hearing on utility rates is being held as part of tonight’s city council meeting.

Residents have been upset about skyrocketing utility rates prompting council to pass $33-million in utility relief.

Council is now looking at an interim rate measure that would sell electricity to residents at the wholesale rate.

On Friday, Mayor Linnsie Clark stated this option would allow the city to provide ratepayers with immediate relief while work is being done to determine the best approach for the energy business into the future.
