MEDICINE HAT, AB – Part of Kipling Street SE and Old Cemetery Road SE will be closed most of Saturday for the annual Beat the Heat Skateboard Competition and Festival.

The main festival action takes place at the Kinsmen Skate Plaza on Kipling Street. New for this year is the Cemetery Hill Bomb, bringing the action onto the street. Kipling Street and Old Cemetery Road will be closed from College Avenue to 12th Street from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

College Avenue SE and Kipling Street east of College Avenue will remain open to traffic. The city says parking lots at the city-owned buildings along Kipling Street will be available for parking during the event.

Motorists are reminded to obey all posted signs and to take extra caution while driving around Kin Coulee Park due to an increase in pedestrian traffic.
