Mustard Seed begins Hope for a Hatter campaign

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Mustard Seed in Medicine Hat has started the Hope for a Hatter campaign this week. The campaign aims to showcase people’s stories of going from desperate need to hope for new life. The Mustard Seed will be sharing stories of those who have benefited from the programs the organization offers on their social media pages to help residents of the Medicine Hat area become aware at how vulnerable some people are at any moment.

The campaign also seeks to provide food, clothes, and any other essential needs for those in troubling times. Hope for a Hatter focuses on three key gifts: meals, shelter, and health and wellness support. The organization says that these gifts will help care for and empower vulnerable citizens so that they can regain their independence and become actives members in society once again.

Samantha Lowe, the senior director of shelter operations, says that the organization has noticed an increase of people in need in the city of Medicine Hat.

“We’ve seen an increase in need across all of our sites, especially in Medicine Hat where we’ve seen an increase in individuals seeking our services. We want to share their stories and create awareness about how essential the programs that we provide are, and how we walk alongside people to change their lives. The campaign is targeted to the wider community to increase awareness about our vulnerable neighbours and those who don’t necessarily have a voice to talk about their experiences in poverty or homelessness,” Lowe said on Thursday.

Lowe says that anyone who is interested in volunteering in the initiative is more than welcome to do so and that any help that they can get is appreciated.

Gifts are being accepted and put straight to work ensuring that those in need get support immediately. More information on the Hope for a Hatter campaign can be found online. The campaign runs until August 31.
