McCoy Varsity Colts clinch Alberta Premier Baseball league title
MEDICINE HAT, AB – The McCoy Varsity Colts clinched the Alberta Premier Baseball league title on Friday, concluding their season with a record of nine wins and two losses. The Colts faced off against the MHHS Hawks.
The game started on Wednesday night before being rained out. It resumed Friday with the Colts leading 6-1 in the top of the 6th inning. McCoy managed to add another run, but the Hawks fought back in the bottom of the 6th inning, scoring four runs and narrowing the gap to 7-5. The Colts responded with four runs in the top of the 7th inning, reestablishing their 6-run lead.
The game concluded with an impressive play by shortstop Caleb Garrecht, who caught a line drive and completed an unassisted double play, securing an 11-5 victory for the Colts.
The Hawks displayed a balanced offensive effort, with their eight hits being spread throughout the lineup. Jeff Bullock was the only Hawk with multiple hits, going 2 for 4 with a run scored.
