Milk River Health Centre Emergency Department temporarily closing

Jun 2, 2023 | 3:35 PM

MILK RIVER, AB – Due to a lack of physician coverage, the Milk River Health Centre Emergency Department (ED) will close starting on Friday, June 2 at 5 p.m.

The ED will re-open at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6 to provide 24-hour service. During the temporary closure, nursing staff will remain on-site to provide care for long-term care residents.

Anyone experiencing a medical emergency in the area is asked to call 911, and they will be rerouted to either the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge or the Raymond Health Centre.

Residents with non-urgent healthcare-related questions can phone Health Link at 811 at any time of the day.

Individuals requiring non-emergency medical care are also encouraged to call their family physician.

This is the fourth time in the last three weeks that the facility has experienced a temporary closure.
